Hi y'all!! Well I apologize I completely bypassed my 28 week update and now we are already at 29 weeks, but we have been enjoying good ole Texas for the last week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Matthew, his Mother, Cathleen, and myself flew out early last week to Houston, Texas and then made the drive in to San Augustine to spend some quality and relaxing time with Matt's Grandparents. The flight was three and a half hours and then we had about a three hour drive, and thankfully I did just fine...7 months pregnant and all. I was definitely ready to get out of the car after that 6th hour of traveling but the baby did just fine!

I took my girlfriend Annie's advice and wore my Babyfat t-shirt just in case I needed some pregnancy sympathy from the flight crew but I zonked out and didn't wake up until we were landing. At least I can sleep somewhere...since lately I haven't been doing so in my own bed! The belly is out of control and literally hard as a rock so every time I try to get comfortable, I feel as though I'm shifting a boulder back and forth on my front side. Flip...kaboom....flip...kaboom...all night long! Oh and then there's the....flip, roll and off the bed to the bathroom for the 5th time each night around 4:30am....what's hysterical is to watch me at that hour half asleep and trying to roll "up" into bed since I can no longer seem to lift my knees to a 90 degree angle because the belly seems to inhibit that action anymore. hahaha My husband sees me in a different light these days I'm sure :)

We did enter our third trimester last week which was VERY exciting and we are really beginning to get anxious and excited with a whole separate lot of emotions that neither of us has probably every felt before. The excitement is mixed with so much of expecting the unknown and every now and then I get that petrified feeling that I'm sure every Mother goes through at some point...the "OMG, I'm going to be someone's Mother, do I even know what I'm doing?! Will I be a good Mother??!!! Oh goodness, will she even like me???!!!!!!!!" It's all a blessing in disguise because I guess I would be silly to not anticipate such a huge change in our life and it makes Matt and I really evaluate what is important and what we want as opposed to what we need in life. Health, happiness, friends and family....that is exactly what we are thankful for this Thanksgiving because we have such supportive family & friends and we, as well as the baby, are healthy and have so much to look forward to in life.

My Mother-in-Law, Cathleen, was laughing the other day because The Bump was kicking me SO hard in my right rib cage that it was really hard to be cheerful that morning. She said, "I'm glad she's kicking so hard, that's a good sign" Really, it truly is because this baby has to be the most active child on Earth!! She kicks and rolls and pushes through my skin ALL day long. She doesn't have many rest periods and I love that about her. I can't wait to see my little busy body doing her own thing once she's born and figuring out her surroundings.

She is weighing in around 2.5 lbs and is just over 15.5 inches long or so. Her bones are beginning to harden as 250 milligrams of the calcium I drink daily are deposited into her skeleton. Her head is also enlarging to make room for her brain which is quickly growing. We feel the top of her skull quite a bit since that is one of her favorite David Copperfield tricks she likes to play on me...pushing the top of her skull out of my stomach on the lower left side where I look terribly lopsided and lumpy for a minute or so!! The knees push out above and to the right of my belly button and those feet are still firmly planted under my ribs!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and safe travel...we really love that all of you are counting down with us now!! 11 weeks!!! Whoa!!!

27 Weeks And Counting!

Happy Birthday Daddy! This week we celebrated Matt's 29th Birthday. All of our good friends, including Beth in from San Diego and even our new Mommy Alison, joined up at Sapporo to celebrate his big night and the last Birthday he'll be enjoying in his 20s! haha Just kidding Matthew....what a great year to look forward to though! This year will, I'm sure, be a huge learning curve for both of us. But I'm sure it will be the best year of our life getting used to being parents and growing up...a lot more :)

We've been both been so busy during the week with work and running around that we really enjoy our nights that we get to do nothing! Next week we will be coming to the end of our 2nd trimester...my how time flies....and I am feeling a bit more lethargic and running of gas a lot faster than before! She's getting much bigger and I really have no idea where in the world she's going to fit by the end of my pregnancy! Matt and my friend Stacie just look at me and chuckle a lot of the time because I'm ALL belly at this point. I really look like I'm about to pop sometimes when she starts rolling around doing her stretching in there!

We had a great 27 week prenatal appointment with Dr. Spoon and all of our measurements are right on track. My uterus is measuring all the way up to my rib cage which explains how she keeps assuming her favorite position...knees and feet either kicking or firmly planted under my rib cage. Not comfortable. And she's only 2 lbs right now.....that little girl packs some punch in those little feet of hers! She can open and close her eyes now and, if you double click and enlarge the pictures, you can see her iris and lens in the ultrasound pictures above. Although she would not wake up, we saw her tongue moving inside her mouth during the ultrasound as she slept. She is prone to hiccups at this point as well which should be interesting! The other night I fell asleep on Matt's lap and he was amazed at how active she was in my belly as I slept. She didn't wake me the entire time, but Matt said she was dancing all over the place. She just needed some Daddy-Bump time :)

There's so much to look forward to still and it seems as though the pregnancy is just whizzing by! Her room has taken shape and we have even received some wonderful gifts to fill her little dresser drawers. We still have so much to do, and not enough time, and I really need to figure out how the heck you fold those itty bitty clothes!

Okay....so I'm really late on updating the blog this week...sorry y'all! I, for the first time, since my morning sickness have had the roughest week of my pregnancy. I unfortunately came down with a cold that feels like the worst cold I have ever had, but it probably just feels that way since I'm restricted to children's cold meds that really don't do much! The baby would not be very happy with me if I tanked up on Nyquil and Theraflu...she's be seeing double floating around in there!

Prior to getting sick though, Matt and I had a busy week filled with everything from my Uncle Bobby's 65th Bday hanging with the family to Halloween dress up and lots of laughs.

Our good friends, the Harvey's, put on a fabulous "Day of the Dead" party at their home where Matt and I attended in our questionable couple's costume....none other than Satan and his pregnant nun! It was hysterical to see people's faces when I turned to the side and they saw The Bump. We had to include the baby girl in our costume of course :)

We were so excited to put together the crib. Really, ever since it was delivered I've been chomping at the bit to get it set up! It wasn't THAT difficult to put together....if the directions had been right. Rule #1: the directions need to be in the correct order! Yep, that's right we got the "special" directions that they put in the crib box to play a practical joke on expecting parents. After realizing this, the remaining construction of the crib was a breeze! It's so cute!! And of course, I had to immediately put on the crib bumper and crib skirt just to see it all together.
Then, Monday night, as I was laid up in bed with my cold, Matt (and Beau) surprised me and put together the changing table/dresser. We love them both...thank you Grandma Channel! I keep walking down the hall and peeking into the nursery just to look at her room, having the furniture up makes it much more real for some reason. My excitement doubles every day...I can't wait to be peeking in on her sleeping in her adorable little bed!

She's weighing in at about a pound and two thirds and fourteen inches long from head to heel. The nerve pathways in her ears are developing which means her response to sound is growing more consistent. Her lungs are developing now, and she is taking small breaths of amniotic fluid at this point.

We are really hoping to get some great shots of her this upcoming Monday. We called into our doctor to request another ultrasound to celebrate her Daddy's 29th Bday. What better way to spend your Bday than checking in on your baby girl!
