Grandpa showing off The Bump!
Hi y'all!! Well I apologize I completely bypassed my 28 week update and now we are already at 29 weeks, but we have been enjoying good ole Texas for the last week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Matthew, his Mother, Cathleen, and myself flew out early last week to Houston, Texas and then made the drive in to San Augustine to spend some quality and relaxing time with Matt's Grandparents. The flight was three and a half hours and then we had about a three hour drive, and thankfully I did just fine...7 months pregnant and all. I was definitely ready to get out of the car after that 6th hour of traveling but the baby did just fine!
I took my girlfriend Annie's advice and wore my Babyfat t-shirt just in case I needed some pregnancy sympathy from the flight crew but I zonked out and didn't wake up until we were landing. At least I can sleep somewhere...since lately I haven't been doing so in my own bed! The belly is out of control and literally hard as a rock so every time I try to get comfortable, I feel as though I'm shifting a boulder back and forth on my front side. Flip...kaboom....flip...kaboom...all night long! Oh and then there's the....flip, roll and off the bed to the bathroom for the 5th time each night around 4:30am....what's hysterical is to watch me at that hour half asleep and trying to roll "up" into bed since I can no longer seem to lift my knees to a 90 degree angle because the belly seems to inhibit that action anymore. hahaha My husband sees me in a different light these days I'm sure :)
We did enter our third trimester last week which was VERY exciting and we are really beginning to get anxious and excited with a whole separate lot of emotions that neither of us has probably every felt before. The excitement is mixed with so much of expecting the unknown and every now and then I get that petrified feeling that I'm sure every Mother goes through at some point...the "OMG, I'm going to be someone's Mother, do I even know what I'm doing?! Will I be a good Mother??!!! Oh goodness, will she even like me???!!!!!!!!" It's all a blessing in disguise because I guess I would be silly to not anticipate such a huge change in our life and it makes Matt and I really evaluate what is important and what we want as opposed to what we need in life. Health, happiness, friends and family....that is exactly what we are thankful for this Thanksgiving because we have such supportive family & friends and we, as well as the baby, are healthy and have so much to look forward to in life.
My Mother-in-Law, Cathleen, was laughing the other day because The Bump was kicking me SO hard in my right rib cage that it was really hard to be cheerful that morning. She said, "I'm glad she's kicking so hard, that's a good sign" Really, it truly is because this baby has to be the most active child on Earth!! She kicks and rolls and pushes through my skin ALL day long. She doesn't have many rest periods and I love that about her. I can't wait to see my little busy body doing her own thing once she's born and figuring out her surroundings.
She is weighing in around 2.5 lbs and is just over 15.5 inches long or so. Her bones are beginning to harden as 250 milligrams of the calcium I drink daily are deposited into her skeleton. Her head is also enlarging to make room for her brain which is quickly growing. We feel the top of her skull quite a bit since that is one of her favorite David Copperfield tricks she likes to play on me...pushing the top of her skull out of my stomach on the lower left side where I look terribly lopsided and lumpy for a minute or so!! The knees push out above and to the right of my belly button and those feet are still firmly planted under my ribs!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and safe travel...we really love that all of you are counting down with us now!! 11 weeks!!! Whoa!!!
